Present Simple: -s third person singular (he, she, it) in affirmative sentences

In Present Simple affirmative form, we add an -s to the verb in the 3rd person singular (he, she, it).

There are spelling rules for that -s we add to the verb:

1. General rule: Add -s to the verb

to walk: she walks      to stop: it stops

2. Verbs ending in -s, -x, -sh, -ch, -o:  add -es to the verb

to kiss:  he kisses    to mix: she mixes   to push: he pushes

to watch: he watches       to go: it goes

3. Verbs ending in consonant +y: drop -y and add -ies

to study:    she studies

(but verbs ending in vowel +y: general rule.  to play:it plays)

4. Irregular:    to have: it has

Present Simple & Present Continuous

En general, en inglés para formar frases usamos:

- En afirmativa:         Sujeto + verbo

- En negativa:            Sujeto + auxiliar + not  + verbo
                                                    se suele
                                                    contraer
                                                  (auxiliarn't)

- En interrogativa:    Auxiliar + sujeto + verbo?

- En respuesta cortas:    Yes, sujeto + auxiliar.   /   No, sujeto + auxiliarn't.

OJO: en las respuestas cortas el sujeto solo puede ser un pronombre personal (I, You, He, She, It, We, They)

Es importante saber el orden de las distintas partes de la oración y el auxiliar de cada tiempo (es la palabra que me permite formar la negativa, la interrogativa y las respuestas cortas y que depende del tiempo verbal).

Estos cuadros resumen el Present Simple y el Present Continuous que vimos el trimestre anterior.
