Present Simple: -s third person singular (he, she, it) in affirmative sentences

In Present Simple affirmative form, we add an -s to the verb in the 3rd person singular (he, she, it).

There are spelling rules for that -s we add to the verb:

1. General rule: Add -s to the verb

to walk: she walks      to stop: it stops

2. Verbs ending in -s, -x, -sh, -ch, -o:  add -es to the verb

to watch: he watches       to go: it goes

3. Verbs ending in consonant +y: drop -y and add -ies

Present Simple & Present Continuous

En general, en inglés para formar frases usamos:

- En afirmativa:         Sujeto + verbo

- En negativa:            Sujeto + auxiliar + not  + verbo
                                                    se suele
                                                    contraer
                                                  (auxiliarn't)

- En interrogativa:    Auxiliar + sujeto + verbo?

- En respuesta cortas:    Yes, sujeto + auxiliar.   /   No, sujeto + auxiliarn't.

OJO: en las respuestas cortas el sujeto solo puede ser un pronombre personal (I, You, He, She, It, We, They)

Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer

 Sing this Christmas carol:

You know Dasher and Dancer and Prancer and Vixen
Comet and Cupid and Donner and Blitzen
But do you recall
The most famous reindeer of all?

Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer
Had a very shiny nose
And if you ever saw it
You would even say it glows

All of the other reindeer
Used to laugh and call him names
They never let poor Rudolph
Join in any reindeer games

Then one foggy Christmas Eve
Santa came to say
"Rudolph, with your nose so bright
Won't you guide my sleigh tonight?"

Then how the reindeer loved him
As they shouted out with glee
"Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer
You'll go down in history"

Let it Snow

 Learn this Christmas carol:

Oh, the weather outside is frightful
But the fire is so delightful
And since we've got no place to go
Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow

Oh, it doesn't show signs of stopping
And I've brought some corn for popping
The lights are turned way down low
Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow

When we finally kiss goodnight
How I'll hate going out in the storm
But if you really hold me tight
All the way home I'll be warm

And the fire is slowly dying
And my dear, we're still goodbying
But as long as you love me so
Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow

When we finally kiss goodnight
How I'll hate going out in the storm
But if you really hold me tight
All the way home I'll be warm

Oh the fire is slowly dying
And my dear, we're still goodbying
But as long as you love me so
Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow

Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow

Happy Halloween!

We celebrate Halloween on 31st October.  It is thought to be a night when ghosts, witches and fairies are very active.

Jack-o-lanterns
They are hollowed out pumpkins with a face cut in one side and a candle put inside.  Jack-o-lanterns are supposed to frighten away bad spirits, ghosts and witches.

Dressing up
On Halloween, when it was believed that bad spirits came back to the earthly world, people thought they would meet ghosts if they left their homes. To avoid being recognized by ghosts people would wear masks when they left homes after dark so that the ghosts would mistake them for fellow spirits. That’s why Halloween costumes are traditionally monsters such as vampires, ghosts, witches and devils.

Trick or Treat
Children in costumes go from house to house in their neighbourhood, often in small groups, in order to ask for treats such as sweets, lollipops, chocolates or money. When someone answers the door, the children say: ’Trick or treat?’ The "trick" is a threat to perform mischief on the homeowners or their property if no treat is given.
